Team building in Northern Ireland

What is team building?

Team building is the process of turning a group of individual employees into a solid team.  A team is a group of people organised to work together willingly to meet the needs of their customers by accomplishing their purpose and goals.

It really helps improving professional relationships, considerate and supporting, this is very much reflected in the quality of work being done. Team building in the workplace extensively contributes towards employee motivation and building trust among the employees. There are many benefits that can be earned from this such as Improved productivity, increase motivation, encourage creativity and improved communication. While employees are taking part, they are learning each other's strengths, weaknesses, and interests.

Team building improves the employees’ performance with communication and social cohesion which in turn builds trust.  It does this by putting staff members in situations that inspire them to interact, problem solve, and share ideas to achieve a specific goal. Apart from a bonding programme team building can also help teach and resolve conflict resolution helping to compromise and collaborate.

How can we improve teamwork?

It may sound like an old cliché but leading by example sets a precedent within the company. It is important that within the ranks of the business there is a good build up of trust and respect.  Encouraging socialising can cultivate open communication and can combat any inflictions. Finally having employees who are recognised for their good work, this leads to good morale within the company.

What are the qualities of a good team player?

Reliability - A great team player is constantly reliable this ensures they can get the job done by meeting deadlines and providing consistent quality work.

Adapts quickly and easily – Great team players don’t sit on the fence, they see change happen and they adapt to that situation.  They don’t get stressed or complain but are flexible in finding a new solution.

Communicates with confidence. Great team players communicate their ideas clearly and respect the views and opinions of others on the team. Effective communication done constructively and respectfully is the key to getting heard.

Displays genuine commitment - Great team players take the time to make positive work relationships with other team members a priority and display a genuine passion and commitment toward their team.

Undoubtedly as an employer it takes time and expensive to have corporate events but as studies have shown it builds relationships between management and staff.  It procures a more productive work flow in an environment that employees will feel that they have a part in that business.
