New technologies can enforce change, and it is how we implement this change with least disruption is the key task within manufacturing. When the production line is on hold no money is created, so it is vital to minimise the disruption. Trying to implement 3D printing will cause disruption but it is how you deal or prepare yourself for it, will determine how much impact it will have on your manufacturing floor.
The world of 3D printing is evolving at speed with potential to create the next industrial revolution.
The improvement in processes within the technology, the availability of new materials and the ability to provide unique customisation are the result of creative innovators who aim to maximise its capabilities to discover its limitations.
However, many industries are still unaware of the full potential of this technology (as of yet).
Therefore, it’s important to have an entrepreneurial mindset to make changes to current working practices and manufacturing processes to ensure we maximise the capabilities of this technology.
